Imagine a world that renews the environment rather than depletes it, where collaboration is rewarded. A remote, off-grid village, including a few tiny houses, chickens, dogs, frogs, cats, permaculture gardens, and all sorts of wonderful, sustainable projects makes that dream come true. In this article, we will talk about a tiny house that is a part of this village. This tiny house was built in the A-Frame style.
A Unique Retreat in Smith River Canyon
It is a compact and charming structure that offers a unique retreat experience amidst the natural beauty of Northern California’s Smith River canyon.
Perched on a hill, the cabin provides picturesque views of the surrounding valley, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the serene environment. The cabin is well-insulated, ensuring warmth and coziness during the winter months. In fact, the insulation is so effective that the cabin can be comfortably heated using just body heat.
Situated on 160 acres of pristine land, the cabin is part of an eco-friendly community dedicated to sustainable practices and permaculture principles. The area boasts lush green slopes adorned with ferns and is home to a diverse range of wildlife, from adorable caterpillars to majestic black bears. The Smith River, the only dam-free river in the state, meanders through the canyon, offering a peaceful and unspoiled natural setting for guests to explore and appreciate.
Charming A-Frame Tiny House
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a thoughtfully designed interior that maximizes the available space. Although compact, the cabin provides all the essentials for a comfortable stay. However, it’s important to note that the cabin does not have electricity, allowing guests to embrace a tech-free experience and truly disconnect from the modern world. We provide basic lighting options such as flashlights, torches, and candles, but we recommend bringing your own as well.
Sustainable Living Fundamentals
Adjacent to the cabin, there is an open-air kitchen equipped with a small propane camping stove. Guests have access to an assortment of pots, pans, and utensils to prepare their meals. While there is no refrigerator, freezers with ice packs and coolers are available to store food and keep it fresh.
For bathroom facilities, we have composting toilets, which are bucket-style toilets with comfortable seats. Additionally, there is a closed toilet located in the bath area. Guests can enjoy a hot shower in the sauna/hammam, conveniently located a short distance away from the cabin.
